What Actually Determines Lifespan
Three things decide how long an epoxy floor survives: surface preparation, coating thickness, and the top coat. Diamond grinding profiles the concrete so the epoxy has something mechanical to bite into — without it, adhesion fails regardless of the product. A 100% solids epoxy base provides the thickness and impact strength. And a polyaspartic top coat protects against UV yellowing and abrasion, which is critical for sun-exposed garages and doorways where tires scrub.
Expect a 2-car garage system to take 1–2 days to install, be walkable in 24 hours, and ready for cars in 48–72 hours. With the right build, your floor will look like new for a decade or more — and a simple recoat refreshes it for another full cycle.
